This weekend’s La Liga blockbuster comes from Camp Nou as Barcelona prepare to do battle against bitter rivals Sevilla.

The Catalans won 15 out of 19 La Liga matches played at home last season with Sevilla recording less than 6 wins over the same number of matches during the 2018/19 season. It’s therefore difficult to beat Barcelona at home but not nearly impossible with Sevilla showing a strong side over the favorites it may be a dramatic match to watch with both teams showing signs of delivering a knock-out blow to secure a win.

Both teams have had average starts to the start of La Liga with Barcelona at 10th with Sevilla closely leading at 11th place in the league table.

Their previous encounter ended as a draw 0-0, Sevilla played at home and were happy sharing the points with their popular rivals.

All the talk has however been hogged by Barca captain Lionel Messi as he sulked over a missed move away from the only club he has known.

Julen Lopetegui is looking for an away win to push them to the top table his looking to prove his worth at Sevilla.

This game will be entertaining us as we watch from home the tempo for the game will be high with both teams showing promising signs of securing a win so a draw is not advisable for bookies.

In all of their last 5 meetings both teams have managed to score an average of over 2.5 goals with Barcelona winning most of their encounters.

The favorite to win is Barcelona following previous stats on head to head with Blaugrana makes them the possible winner for the weekend match at Camp Nou.

Sevilla possible strategy and formation

Being among the best defensive teams in La Liga it’s difficult for Sevilla to concede more than 2 goals in both home and away games.

Their style of pressing has made them difficult to beat since they don’t allow you time to build up on the game styles especially Barcelona who love to play tiki taka.

Their pressing style with numbers enables them to better intercept balls in the midfield and move up-field to counter their opponent and also be able to drop back in numbers to defend.

Lopetegui’s men mostly use 4-4-1-1 system against Barcelona with the mid-field players being able to close down on Messi eliminating the buildup. Carlos Fernandez will miss out.

Barcelona possible strategy and formation

The gaming style for Barcelona has over the years evolved with Messi being man-marked most of the time the coach sometimes uses De Jong and Arthur to assist in the buildup process.

Messi using his markers to create more passing chance for players moving up by creating space by dropping back together with two or three opponents making him.

The Blaugrana mostly stick to the 4-3-3 formation making them strong at the front and back. Samuel Umtiti will miss out due to injury.

Head to head:

Sevilla 0-0 Barcelona, Barcelona 4-0 Sevilla, Sevilla 2-4
