Time: Thursday, June 17 (Group B) 19:00 hrs
Denmark take on Belgium at Parken Stadium (Copenhagen) in a must win match after a one goal loss to Finland in their opening game of the Euros. Belgium will be coming from a 3 goal win against Russia with both Thomas Meunier and Romelu Lukaku scoring. Denmark talisman Christian Eriksen is said to be stable and on the road to recovery after collapsing during their last Saturday match. Today we focus on the possible starting 11, team performance, head to head and match predictions.
It goes without saying that the Danes failed to exhibit a great performance during the first Group B match against Finland. They failed to convert chances into goals with 70% ball possession, 22 total shots only 6 where on target, Finland managed only 1 shot on target and with no cards shown during their match. Their opening performance was excellent but was not enough to give them a win and are looking forward to causing problems to the heavy weights (Belgium). Denmark and Belgium’s previous encounter in the Euros 1984 ended 3-2 after overcoming a two goal disadvantage against them. This is besides a Pierre-Emil Hojberg penalty miss making it the 3rd penalty miss in their last four major league shootouts. Hjulmand’s men are therefore fighting for a top spot finish in group B having last Saturday upset they are looking for a win despite the odds and with a star player out (Eriksen) it may seem to be a mission impossible for the Danish side.
