Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Primeira Liga side Porto Fc and this is going to be a match between arguably England’s best Premier League team and Portugal best team. Facing it off a Man city backyard Etihad Stadium with the home team coming from a narrow win against Arsenal over the weekend, which City courtesy of a Raheem Sterling only goal having come from a previous stalemate 1-1 vs Leeds.
Porto are facing a difficult task of playing with Man City since previous encounters put the home side as favorites of winning the event and we are expecting this match to be easy for the city side. However Porto is ranked 2nd in the Primeira Liga while City are ranked 7th having lost to Leicester, draw with Leeds and won their match against Arsenal as well as Sheffield Utd.
Pep is looking to win the UEFA Champions League title once more this year, failing to do since his days at Barcelona. We are expecting them to win all their Group C matches on both home and away turfs. Porto has over the years not performed well in their away games when playing with City, with only two matches played between them and City during UCL with the tomorrow’s
City will be missing their captain Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgiqn has been out for a long period of time and is expected toface further time on the sidelines.. Pep has not yet shown signs of defending the Premier League title with a bad start this season and only two wins. So far the defence this season has been trouble compared to their normal standards.
Guardiola has however countered defensive flows with signing of new players Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake who have so far shown their worth with Ake scoring his debut goal against Tottenham despite them losing the match. Although their talisman and pass master De Bruyne is out, the duo of Mahrez and Sterling has shown to be effective as was evident during the weekend.
Possible lineup 3-1-4-2 or 4-3-3; Ederson, Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo, Rodri, Gundogan, Foden, Torres, Aguero, Sterling.
Sergio’s men are faced with this mountain of a challenge against the City side in their first away match in champions League with Porto coming from 2-2 draw with sporting after a late goal in the 88th minute from the home team player Luciano Vietto.
However Porto will also fight hard to try and better their chances of qualifying in the Group C face off. The possibility of Nuno Santos and Mateus Uribe scoring this match is high therefore we may expect both teams to score.
Possible starting lineup; Marchesin, Manafa, Mbemba, Pepe, Sanusi, Oliveria, Otavio, Uribe, Corona, Marega, Anderson.
The possibility of Man city is about 76% with their last encounter in 2012 with Man city winning all the two matches and with Porto only scoring 1 goal.
Man City to win by a big margin.
